True Grit Land & Ranch, LLC was built from the ground up by James and Rita Olmedo, a husband-and-wife team driven by hard work, family values, and a deep love for the land. James spent the first few years of his childhood in Hot Springs, Arkansas before moving to Sapulpa, Oklahoma, a place he proudly calls his forever home. It was there in high school that he met his high school sweetheart, Rita, who now plays a vital role in running the family business. Together, they’ve turned a shared passion for the outdoors and honest work into a business rooted in integrity and craftsmanship.

James graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Economics. Throughout his summers in high school and college, he interned at a well-known financial company with his father, Jay, and younger sister, Ava. After graduation, James joined his father to help build their family finance business. However, after several years of working indoors, he realized something was missing — the freedom and fulfillment that come from working outdoors and shaping the land.

From a young age, James could always be found outside. Whether it was fishing in the family pond after school, hunting with his grandfather in Arkansas, or tending to his small Highland cattle business, James was born for the outdoors. His fascination with heavy equipment began at an early age, when his family moved from a neighborhood in Arkansas to 15-acres in Sapulpa. Weekend after weekend spent with his father clearing their property using skid steers and tractors sparked a lifelong passion for dirt work and land improvement.

That passion of heavy equipment eventually grew into a dream realized, True Grit Land & Ranch, LLC, a business that reflects the dedication, craftsmanship, and “true grit” the Olmedo family applies to every project and every acre of land they touch.
